Tibet Overland Tour is one of the most famous & adventure tour starting from Kathmandu travelling via Araniko Highway on drive to the Nepal-China border & fly back to kathmandu from Lhasa after ending Our itinerary also includes the famous but rarely visited Shalu and Sakya Monasteries. After visiting the Tashilungpo at Shigatse we start our drive over the Himalayas by way of the incredible Arniko Highway that connects Kathmandu with Lhasa. Enjoy fabulous Himalayan mountain scenery again - this time from ground level !! Once over the high passes flanked by a range of Himalayan giants we enter a land of lush subtropical jungles and rushing streams as we descend steeply into the Bhote Koshi Gorge towards Nepal. At the town of Zangmu on the Tibet-Nepal border we bid farewell to our Tibet friends and drive through the terraced countryside of Nepal to end our journey in Kathmandu. An unforgettable encounter with forbidden Tibet.

Tibet Overland Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 : ARRIVE LHASA
Fly Kathmandu, Chengdu or Beijing to Lhasa in Tibet. Transfer to hotel in Lhasa. Afternoon free for rest and acclimatize. Hotel.

DAY 2-3 : LHASA SIGHTSEEING
In Lhasa visit Potala Palace, Norbulinka, Drepung & Sera monasteries, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Bazaar. Hotel.

DAY 4 : LHASA - GYANTSE
Drive to Gyantse passing the Yamdrok Tsho (Turquoise Lake) and crossing the Karo La pass. Visit The Khumbhum Stupa & Phalkor Monastery. Hotel.

DAY 5 : GYANTSE - SHALU - SHIGATSE
Drive Gyantse to Shigatse. Enroute visti Shalu Monastery. Hotel.

DAY 6 : SHIGATSE - SHAKYA - XEGAR
After visiting the Tashilungpo Monastery drive across Tsoula and Gyatsola pass to Xhegar. Enroute visit Sakya Monastery. Hotel.

DAY 7 : XEGAR - RONGPHU MONASTERY
Drive over Pangla pass to Rongphu Monastery situated below the giant North Face of Mt. Everest. Rongphu Monastery Guest House.

DAY 8 : Mt. EVEREST BASE CAMP
Day hike to North Mount Everest Base Camp and Rongphu Glacier (8 kms each way). Rongphu Monastery Guest House.

DAY 9: RONGPHU - NYALAM or ZAMGMU
Drive over the Himalayas and down to Tibet-Nepal border town of Nyalam or Zangmu. Enroute visit Milerapa Cave. Hotel.

DAY 10: ZANGMU - KATHMANDU
Cross the Friendship Bridge into Nepal and drive to Kathmandu. End of Lhasa, Everest basecamp to Kathmandu Tour
